Story by The Wrenn Group / December 21, 2022
Every year, The Wrenn Group supports local schools, non-profits, educational initiatives, and charitable organizations in the communities we serve. This holiday season, TWG founder and visionary Ray Wrenn was inspired to spread some additional holiday cheer in Bowen’s hometown of Hanahan, South Carolina. TWG contacted Hanahan Mayor Christie Rainwater to give us some guidance on organizations that are impacting Hanahan residents and discovered some incredible charitable groups led by inspiring people.
Mr. Wrenn said, “There are so many meaningful ways members of our local community help one another from the heart. We’re humbled and honored to support these folks as they truly make a difference here in Hanahan.”
The Wrenn Group chose three organizations to be the recipients of a surprise donation at Christmastime.
The Formation Project gives safe shelter to local women that have been victims of sex trafficking. The Wrenn Group’s gift paid the house’s rent and expenses in January, plus helped fund the privacy fence in the backyard for the ladies. www.theformationproject.org
Restoration Community Church has many outreach programs that impact the lives of Hanahan citizens of all ages. We were particularly inspired by a program in partnership with the Hanahan school system that supports the nutrition of children who may go without food at home on the weekends. TWG’s donation was earmarked for the “Breakfast Lunch and Dinner” program and will feed 50 Hanahan school children Friday through Sunday each week for the next six months. www.lifeatrestoration.com
Raising Up the Lowcountry Foundation was founded in 2017 by a local Hanahan single mom. The nonprofit provides resources to single moms across the Tri-County area in a multitude of ways. TWG’s donation will fund 2023 financial literacy classes for single moms experiencing hardships, with the goal of helping women manage their finances, increase their credit scores, and ultimately buy homes. www.raisingupthelowcountry.org
